BIO-1 Buzz
                                                                            October 2008

Dear Bio-1 Community,

Welcome to the October edition of the Bio-1 Buzz, our e-newsletter to keep you connected with news, events and programs throughout the Central New Jersey WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) Bio-1 region.  We are currently busy planning for the second annual New Jersey Life Sciences Week, scheduled for November 17-21st.  We have an exciting calendar of events planned which are free and open to the public.  Please check it out and help us celebrate the variety of exciting people and places in New Jersey devoted to the life sciences.  This edition also includes a new monthly feature – introducing the various members of the Bio-1 Governance Board. This month we are featuring Dr. Jonathan Yavelow from Rider University who is an active member of the Bio-1 Governance Board, sponsor of our “Excite Young People about the Biosciences” Strategy and Implementation team, and leading the steering committee for New Jersey’s Life Sciences week.  New Jersey is currently experiencing a shortage of science and math teachers.  We explore this issue and the various paths for career changers to help fill this need in “Wanted: Science Teachers”.   Visit our website www.bio-one.org and don’t forget to pass along the buzz.

Sincerely,
Mary Ellen Clark
Executive Director, WIRED Bio-1
